“The most remarkably well preserved medieval pottery kiln in the UK”
(conservation report commissioned by Cadw)

Newport’s Medieval Kiln Appeal is a great new project which will benefit everyone: you, the wider community as well as boosting the local economy. This project will not only rescue a vital piece of our history, it seeks to teach us all more about our own story in this area. We need to raise money to make it happen – anything you would like to contribute would be of great help.

You can donate here, please click on Home page and see the Donate button.

Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund we have received funds to develop this project: draw up architect plans and conservation reports, develop an education programme and a diverse range of events and activities for the community and visitors to the area. We are still fundraising to bring the project into fruition. so far we have received funding from Cadw, Pembrokeshire National Park’s Sustainable Development Fund in addition to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Thank you to all you local people who have also given money to date…but, yes we still need more!

Newport’s Medieval Kiln, one of only a few remaining in Wales, is now in urgent need of conservation. It is situated inside Newport Memorial Hall, currently inaccessible from view. We need to conserve the Kiln before we
lose this valuable piece of our history and open it up to the public for all to benefit.

Benefits for your area:

A fascinating new tourist attraction in Newport: the Kiln will attract more visitors to our area, helping local businesses and securing local jobs.

Transformation of the garden area of hall: the lower rooms surrounding the kiln will be renovated to make it a usable space to allow for new activities for all, helping to safeguard the Hall’s future and the services it provides for generations to come.

An exciting programme of events: the Kiln and Medieval Newport will be creatively interpreted and supported by a range of fun and interesting events and activities for visitors and the local community.

We need your help!

This is a big project for Newport. So far the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sustainable
Development Fund have pledged £200,000 on the condition we find the remaining amount

We need to raise a further £60,000 in order for us to reach the total target of £260,000.
Without your donations, it wont happen.

A donation of any size would help our project greatly.

You can donate here, please click on Home page and see the Donate button.

Or you can post a cheque to Newport Memorial Hall, West Street, Newport, Pembrokeshire, SA42 0TD

Or you can donate ion person at the Post office in Newport.

Thank you so much for your contribution and, what will, be a legacy for Newport and the wider area.
